Use this piece of laboratory glassware for the separation of two immiscible liquids (of different densities). Typically, you'll be separating the compound(s) dissolved in the aqueous (water) layer from the the compound(s) present in the organic layer. You can decant either the water layer and/or the organic layer separately from one another, depending on what your experimental protocol dictates. Cylindrical and pear-shaped glass funnels are available. These come with glass, polypropylene or Fluoropolymer (PTFE) stoppers and either glass or Fluoropolymer (PTFE)stopcocks. Image may vary.
